3 Year Expansion Programme for PAB

In September 2017 the arrival of a new fibre laser cutting machine from Prima Power marks the final piece in an ambitious 3 year expansion programme at the HQ of PAB Coventry Ltd.

The new laser cutter is necessary to meet increased capacity requirements, and follows the 2016 arrival of a Prima Platino 2.0, along with the 2017 investment in a new 2 metre brake press, new 300 ton hydraulic press, in addition to refurbishing existing offices and purchasing new industrial units to increase manufacturing capacity and open up new facilities with the purchase of a large capacity machining centre in 2015.

The total investment package over the 3 years is £3m, and CEO Mark Brazier confirms that the company are still experiencing substantial growth.

“The previous laser cutter enabled us to support existing business, while also helping us to expand further into the super car sector of the automotive industry. The brake press and the hydraulic press have likewise improved our capability and capacity. We feel that this investment will help take the company to where we want and need it to be, and to keep PAB as a key Tier 1 supplier to OEMs.”

Other improvements have seen a Tooling Division being established, with investment in machining capability from Hurco, and the change to a 24/7 split shift operating pattern.

Mr Brazier added, “Turnover has doubled in the last 3 years and we recognised a need to grow the infrastructure of the business to help support this expansion. 35% of tooling requirements are now satisfied in-house with a plan of growing it to 50%. New staff roles have been created and filled at all levels of the business as we move to the next level of turnover and investment.”
